Joseph Edmondson, EnCE, RHCSA
Joseph Edmondson has been actively involved in the computer industry since 1986. In 2005 he started his apprenticeship as a Forensic Examiner during his time as a professional in the Programming and Research & Development fields. He completed two of the industry’s most rigorous certification processes in 2008 and has since worked on several high profile cases.
Joseph has a wide range of experience having worked on cases ranging from small Intellectual Property Theft, Divorce and Child Endangerment to large scale cases including 1031 Exchange companies and various government agencies. Having an extensive programming background gives him a unique vantage point and the ability to locate information typically overlooked during standard processing and searching techniques.

The EnCE Certification is specific to Guidance Software's Encase Forensics software which is used throughout the forensic process from acquisition through examination and report/evidence production. This certification process requires extensive training from the software manufacturer, knowledge of the Encase software and passing of both Written and Practical examinations.

CCE (Certified Computer Examiner) 2/2008 - 4/2014
The CCE Certification is independent of any specific software and instead focuses on the examiners overall knowledge and ability in the field. Certification requires passing of a written exam, and several practical examinations.

Nevada Department of Transportation 2/2010 - Present
Large Scale Forensic Acquisitions from multiple offices including Desktops, Laptops and Live acquisitions of Servers using EnCase to Preview, keyword search and only acquire responsive Files/Folders.
Initial keywords provided over 3,300,000 hits across the 1.5TB of data. After using various culling and filtering techniques, along with an adjusted keyword list, this was reduced to approximately 35,000 relevant files.
Production of various load-file formats provided with both tiff and native file formats for additional review.
Southwest 1031 Exchange Receivers 5/2007 - 10/2010
Forensic Acquisitions performed of 3.5TB including 15 Desktops, 3 Servers and Voice-mail System.
Performed recovery of data for the Receiver after other parties damaged the working copies of server hard drives.
Trump Tower 12/2009 - 2/2010
Forensic Acquisition of all computers including Desktops and Servers totaling over 2TB of data.
Internet based Examination performed on the clients’ website in response to a motion from Opposing Council.

Founded a Computer Forensics department providing forensic acquisitions, analysis, expert witness testimony, data recovery, ESI Production and Native Review.
Created custom processes and maximized available resources by leveraging Linux and open source Virtualization technology to create a highly scalable forensics lab while promoting forensic best practices.
